Isn't it illegal to copy DVD's?

It is most certainly illegal to make copies of rented DVD's. They are protected under copyright laws. It may even be illegal to make backup copies of DVD's that you have purchased in your country or state/province.

Which distribution are the RPM's compiled on?

The RPM packages were compiled on Fedora 8 (i386 and x86_64 rpm's) and require the livna.org repos. Recent rpm's are digitally signed with gpg.

Can I use libdvd in my application?
[A.]
libdvd is in it's very early stages of development. It's not advisable to use libdvd in any other applications at this time.

Does libdvd support audio stream conversion?
[A.]
No. Libdvd can only extract data from DVD's. You need to then use a library such as ffmpeg, gstreamer etc to convert audio and video streams.

Can I use Libdvd to make a full backup of a DVD disk?
[A.]
Yes. Dvd Movie Backup cam make full copies of DVD's as long as your record media is large enough. You can even remove region restrictions!

[Note] Note

Most DVD's are recorded on a 8.4GB disk which is a duel layer disk. Many new writers can write to these disks but they are quite expensive to buy.

Can libdvd read encypted disks?

Yes. If libdvdcss is installed on your system. Again, it may be illegal to install the libdvdcss library in your country or state/province.
